The TCL 4 series Roku TV 55S425 is a basic 4K TV, but at an affordable price you can ignore the shortcomings of most people.

TV Price and Availability
These additional sizes share the same basic features, from the thighs on the plastic stand and HDMI port to the backlight and Roku smart TV software. The only major difference between the different models is the screen size, so the recommendations for the 55-inch 55S425 also apply to other models.
TV Design
The TCL 4-series, which allows you to design your TV on the go, is very basic and has a standard plastic bezel with a plastic stand for the stand and a matte black panel on the back of the chassis.

TV performance
The TCL55S425 offers a full 3840 x 2160 resolution with 4K display, full backlighting and high dynamic range (HDR). The result is a fairly decent (if basic) 4K viewing experience, which is better than you can expect at this affordable price.
The TCL4 series is 97.2% registered at REC. In the test, the 709 color gamut is better than the Vizio V-series 50-inch 4K HDR Smart TV (V505-G9) (96.75%), but not as wide as 98.4% as seen on the Samsung 40-inch NU7100. I prefer 4K TV measurements near 5%, but TCL is within the limits of low cost models.
There is a slight drop in color accuracy. This scene should be represented in scented orange where Blood Runner 2049, located in Las Vegas, can see the weak and dusty. But in the TCL, orange sometimes looks slightly pink. The color problem was most noticeable when dealing with the orange problem, which was again tilted to pink and red, but only in scenes where this was the main color.
This was the only noticeable color issue in the evaluation and, according to tests, provided strong color accuracy with 55544 Delta-E rating 1.4 (good near zero). We were less impressed with the HDR performance of the TCL4-Series, and without local fusion, the HDR content is not as clear as the premium set. The appearance of Spider-Man: TCL's HDR support back home proved to be bright highlights such as holographic displays or glowing purple alien artifacts. But the 55S425 doesn't support the rich Dolby Vision format, it's limited to support HDR10, it takes a lot of effort to deal with the dark field of view of the TV, and often mixes black and dark tones with continuous blurry gray.
The black layer is not as deep and rich as you can see in a set with local damping that lowers the brightness of the TV or completely turns off the backlight for the darkest parts of the screen. However, because the TCL only used direct backlight without local disturbances, the dark and black portions of the screen appear in dark and shiny gray instead. Not unexpected at this price point, but if you're passionate about image quality, it's one of the factors to consider.
Many problems have also been found in motion handling. Whether it's a quick fight or a simple panning shot in the scene, TV was an unwanted judge struggling to show the movement smoothly. It took some effort to switch the image mode, but turning on motion smoothing improved the problem, but it didn't solve it at all.
TV Gaming Performance
Unlike other sets, the TCL4 series doesn't provide automatic switching or game console detection in game modes like the Xbox One X. Switching to game mode is also a bit unnecessary as choosing an image mode on a regular basis does not provide that mode and you have to go to a separate menu to activate advanced image settings.
The TCL4 series not only supports 4K games, but also streams content with 10-bit color support at 24Hz. However, this set does not support additional frame rates for streaming content, nor does it support HDR mode for gaming or streaming. Just because HDR content isn't a high priority doesn't mean that the game isn't as impressive as other 4K sets.
The TCL4 series does not provide HDR support during the game, but it does provide excellent response time, which is an essential advantage of fast response games. When testing the 55S425 with an input delay tester, I recorded the screen time at a signal of 14 milliseconds.
TV Audio
What's missing from the 55S425 is audio. Using a pair of 8-watt speakers to lift heavy objects, the overall volume provided by the TV is relatively weak and not suitable for rooms with a lot of ambient sound.

TV Remote Control
The included remote is a standard Roku Remote, a dummy-sized controller that features removable navigation controls such as plus-shaped directional pads, home, back and back buttons, media playback controls, and side-mounted volume controls. In addition to these controls, there are four dedicated app buttons, including one-touch access to DirectTV Now, Hulu, Netflix, and Sling TV.
Infrared remote controls require a line of sight with the TV's IR sensor (located under the TCL logo on the bottom bezel of the TV). We want something like the Bluetooth connection used on the remote control of many other premium TVs, but of course this is a very affordable price point.

The absence of local fusion means that HDR content is not displayed dynamically in this set, and there are significant drawbacks to motion processing. It's not a problem for slow-paced play, but compared to other 4K competitors, action movies and other dynamic content look slightly less impressive in this set.
But all these competitors are expensive, and for many consumers, the feature of the TV does not support HDR format or back light accuracy. Everything about the price.
